By Niyi Busari
Flying Eagles head coach, Ladan Bosso has said that the coaching crew put head together using five different catchments to invite 180 players into Flying Eagles camp in Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
The former Ifeanyi Ubah head coach, highlighted the five factors they used in inviting the players in preparation for the 2020 WAFU Zone B tournament in Togo.
"From the day we were named as the Coaches of the team, we put up five catchment areas." Bosso told www.bsnsports.com.ng
"We considered some variables, which are those players that have national team experience. This is, using the former U17 national team that went to Brazil. Another catchment area is to invite some players from the last Flying Eagles who are still within the age bracket. Then third is to select those players that played in the LMC U16 & U17 Tournaments. The fourth is selecting all the Nigeria Premier League players that are within the age bracket. Then, lastly, extending invitation to Nigerian players that are in Europe who fall within the age bracket." He revealed.
He stated that coming up with the idea helped them to come up with fantastic team that can withstand any team.
"And that was why it was easy for us to come up with a fantastic team. To be honest with you, there are three players who came on their own into camp and they're already among those who will travel with us. This means,we have talents in Nigeria scattered everywhere. The issues now is there's an element of luck because some good players are not opportune to be part of the team due lack of adequate time." He concluded.
Flying Eagles who are in group B of the WAFU Zone B championship slated to hold in Togo will slug it out with Ghana and Ivory Coast for the 2020 African Nations Cup.
