The President of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Engineer Ahmadu-Musa Kida has said that he will be ready for re-election whenever the International Basketball Federation chooses to do so.
Kida told journalists in Abuja yesterday that at the last visit of FIBA's delegation when they advised both warning sides Kida and Tijani Umar factions to reconcile but to avail, he said he would abide by any final decision coming from the world governing body of basketball which may see FIBA conducting a fresh election for the NBBF.
But Kida was quick to note that before any election is conducted, the Federation has to draft a constitution that will be endorsed by the Federal Government of Nigeria and most importantly FIBA. Kida however disclosed that the NBBF has no valid constitution guiding the Federation now but will embark on getting one soonest.
"I won election overwhelmingly, so i am not scared at all of any election. We know that election would hold every three years. So if we are not afraod of election last year we cant be afraid of any coming one," Kida disclosed at the 2018 Stakeholder Meeting Savanna Conference held at Package B of the Abuja National stadium yesterday.
He, however, clarified that: "Nigeria Basketball Federation has no constitution. So the first step is to draft a Constitution and get it validated by the Federal Government of Nigeria and also by FIBA before we can really talk about any election."
He also confirmed that FIBA has been officially relating with his Federation pending the conduct of another election.
