I Got My Breakthrough In Germany - Obasi

By Sampson Adedeji

Former Super Eagles striker, Chinedu Obasi, has said that playing in Germany gives him a breakthrough in his career, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The former junior international joined German side TSG 1899 Hoffeinheim in 2007 from Norwegian side, Lyn.

He left Hoffeinheim in 2012 for another German club Schalke O4 after scoring 25 goals in 92 appearances for the club.

He played 35 matches and netted four goals for in three years for Schalke 04.

He confirmed the statement during his first interview with his new Austria Club Altach FC.

"It was at TSG Hoffenheim. That was where I made my breakthrough and with many goals I was able to contribute to promotion to the Bundesliga.

That's why I will always have a personal bond with Hoffenheim," Obasi said.

He further explained how he was able to adjust in playing different roles in his career.

"I've played a lot of different positions in my career. In Hoffenheim, I was one of the three strikers in front, at Schalke I was more on the wing, in Sweden striker in the double lead and in China I played behind the strikers."

"I think my strength lies in the fact that I am very flexible and can be set up in several positions. That's why I don't want to commit myself to that," he added.
