Minister of Youth and Sports Development Hon. Sunday Dare has paid the sum of sixty five thousand US dollars ($65,000) the balance of the International Association Athletics Federation, IAAF, overpaid fund into paid Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, account.

The world athletics goveening body, IAAF had mistakenly paid One hundred and fifty US dollars ($150,000) instead of Fifteen thousand US dollars ($15,000) into AFN account and had since then asked Nigeria to refund the balance of One hundred and thirty-five US dollars ($135,000).

Sunday Dare confirmed that the unpaid balance ($65,000) was paid on Wednesday.

According to him, the sum of seventy thousand USD ($70,000) was paid by the former minister of sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung but he did not pay the balance of sixty-five thousand US Dollars before he left office.

On his official Twitter handle, Dare said that it is the right thing for the country to clear its name and settle such outstanding payment before it brings embarrassment.
