Akwa United emerged the winner of the 2020/2021 Nigeria professional football league season while the Nigeria National league club Bayelsa United against all odds clinched the federation cup. Both clubs qualified for the Super Cup and will clash in the Super Cup final scheduled to take place at the newly refurbished Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan. The federation also announced the 12th of December as the date of the match. The Ibadan stadium has undergone a renovation and is set to stage high profile games with matches involving Shooting Stars who has also returned to the elite division.
