Ibom Cricket Enters Week 3 With New Records

The cricket fire and excitement last Saturday continue to increased with a new batting record set by Ultimate CC batsman Vincent Adewoye who hit 89 runs off 50 balls, highest individual score, therefore became the MVP of the match between Ultimate vs Avatars.
Ultimate CC set a near-impossible target for Avatars to chase 146 runs in 15 overs. However, the T20 overs game was almost washed off was shortened to 15overs due to rain showers on Saturday morning in Uyo.
Avatars CC came into the 2nd inning with Michael Awakessien playing team's best of 24 runs off 26 balls. Their chase of 147 runs target was stopped by Ultimate bowling force at 77runs at expiration of 15 overs. Ultimate CC won by 69 runs.
In the second match, Blue Diamonds faced Maximus CC who were seen as underdogs.
Blue Diamonds CC won toss and made another poor scoring runs of 62 all out in 14.4 overs. Saviour Onofiok played the team's highest individual runs 13 (runs) followed by Salome Sunday's 11 runs.
In 2nd innings, Maximus was surprising trouble for Blue Diamonds through the efforts of Nigeria's National U19 hopeful, Saturday Elijah 25 runs and Chukwuma Kingsley 17 runs off 5 ball.
Chukwuma set a record fastest strike rate of 340.00. Also Maximus's teenage sensation and South-South U17 star, Godswill Effiong became the match MVP having contributed 4 dismissals of Blue Diamonds batsman.
Maximus CC made a remarkable upset and won by 8 wickets as they team played 67/2 (67 runs and loss of 2 wickets) in 10.4 overs.
The Ibom Cricket league continues next weekend at Four Towns School cricket grounds, Uyo a with a passionate appeal for equipment support and sponsorship by the League Management Committee (LMC).
