IHF Trophy: U18 Women Team Return With Title, Target Same Feat In Rwanda

The National Under 18 handball women (Cadet) team has returned to Nigeria after emerging champions in the International Handball Federation World Cup qualifiers in Niger, BSN Sports reports.
Following their excellent performance, the team has qualified for the second and last phase of the African World Cup qualifiers slated for Rwanda in June 2019.
Cadet national team coach, Yusuf Abdulkadir who spoke with www.bsnsports.com.ng revealed that determination, self-belief, and teamwork were the reason his girls won all their four matches in the just concluded tournament.
Abdukadir also added that their focus is now shifted to the second and final stage of the world qualifiers which comes up in Rwanda in June.
"Well, we give Almighty Allah the glory for helping us emerged champion in Niger. It was not easy though, despite brief preparation befire the tournment, determination, self-belief, and teamwork made us defeat all opponents that came our way in Niger.
"
After this, we will be looking forward to early camping ahead of the last stage of the world cup qualification in June."
Abdulkadir, who dedicated the trophy to the President, Handball Federation of Nigeria, Sam Ocheho and all the Board members for their support and encouragement before, during and after the championship in Niger Republic admitted that the hosts, Niger was their toughest opponent.
"I dedicate the trophy to the Handball Federation of Nigeria President, Sam Ocheho and all the Board members for their supports and encouragement which push us to win the title."
Speaking about the toughest opponent, he said; "Of course, the hosts, Niger Republic is the toughest, they are good and also have home supports but our girls are too resilient and determined to overcome them."
The Nigeria's U18 women handball national team defeated Togo, Benin Republic and Niger Republic at the just concluded IHF African Zone 3 world cup qualifiers to emerge champions.
Being African Zone 3 champions, they automatically qualify for last phase of world cup qualifiers in Rwanda in June
