  Inaugural Golf-Sixes Tee Off on Saturday In Abuja By Niyi Busari No fewer than 64 senior citizen golfers grouped into 16 teams will tee-off the inaugural Golf-Sixes at the Tukur Buratai Golf and Country Resort, Abuja on Saturday, BSNSports.com.ng can report.   The two-day event is the first of four center golf competition designed to honour the country's senior citizens who still have the skills in the game of golf. Addressing the media in Abuja on Wednesday, Ekanem Ekwueme who is the organizer says the event is designed to recognise the senior citizens of Nigeria adding that the event which tee-off on Saturday is going to be an annual event. "This is the first time this is happening in Nigeria and in our quest to recognise the senior citizens in the country we decided to dedicate this inaugural event to them. This event is strictly for 55 year-old and above and the venue is Tukur Buratai Golf and Country club. It will hold on 13th and 14th February, 2021. "The event is very unique because it is designed as a fun and easy game made especially for the seniors who still have skills and can still swing. We gave 16 teams with 64 senior citizens participating in the event. We have former ambassadors, immediate past captain of IBB is among the participants, DC NCAC who is a golf ambassador in Africa, Otunba Segun Runsewe who gave full support. "It is going to be a yearly event and this particular test-run is being done in four centers. The first in Abuja, second in Port Harcout, third in Aba and last in Ikeja Lagos. "There will be trophies for the first second and third teams. It is a team a event which consists of four citizen players. Four senior citizens make up a team and we have 16 teams. It called sixies because after every six holes, winner emerges and they for the next event. The inaugural edition which will commence next Saturday will be a two-day event. Eight teams will be knocked out on the first day, while the remaining eight teams will slug it out to produce the final four who will emerge as first second, third and fourth positions. All the four teams will be rewarded with trophies.
