...says warrant of arrest on NFF officials still pending By Niyi Busari Chairman, Special Presidential Investigative Panel (SPIP), Barrister Okoi Obono-Obla has said that the panel will not rest until indicted Nigeria Football Federation officials are brought to book, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Obla who insisted that the warrant of arrest against the five NFF officials is still pending adding that SPIP slowed down the process due to general election observed across the country. "The warrant of arrest against NFF is still pending! Everybody was involved in the election for the past two months or so; so we decided to tally a while! Now that the elections are over, we will leave no stone unturned to bring them into the book." Okoi Obono-Obla told www.bsnsports.com.ng Obono-Obla said that NFF filed a suit in Federal High Court Abuja asking the court to stop Special Presidential Investigative Panel from further investigation of NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, 1st Vice-President, Seyi Akinwunmi, 2nd Vice-President, Shehu Dikko, NFF Secretary-General Dr. Sanusi Mohammed and NFF Board member Ahmed Yusuf Fresh. "They also filed an action in the Federal High Court against the Panel, claiming that the Panel can’t investigate them because they are not public officers. But that is balderdash. He explained further on the suit filed against SPIP: "NFF filed the suit in Federal High Court Abuja in suit No FHC/ABJ/CS/17/2019 presided over by Honorable Justice Ijeoma L Ojukwu. The Plaintiffs are Amaju Pinnick: Seyi Akinwunmi; Mallam Shehu Dikko; Alhaji Yusuf Ahmad Fresh and Dr. Muhammad Sanusi. The defendants are SPIP; Chief Okoi Obono- Obal and Attorney General of the Federation." SPIP had indicted the top five NFF official in 2018 after their investigations on the Federation, they were allegedly found wanting on different misconducts ranging from corruption to misappropriation and misapplication of public funds as well as misuse of public office. According to the Panel, warrant of arrest was issued after they (NFF Officials) failed to show up despite several invitations.
