International Friendly: Algeria Coach Explains Why He Choose Nigeria

By Sampson Adedeji Ahead of the much awaited international friendly match against Nigeria's Super Eagles, the head coach of Desert Foxes of Algeria Djamel Belmadi explained the reason why he preferred Nigeria to any other opponent, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Desert Foxes of Algeria and Nigeria's Super Eagles will sequal up in an international friendly match slated for Austria on Friday. During a press conference on Wednesday, Belmadi disclosed that Nigeria is regard as one of the best in the continent and possessed a good set of players. “Nigeria is a benchmark match, especially in the first half, we could have led 3-0. They are always very close match against them, moreover they won more than we did won. I am looking for the difficulty against Nigeria to progress,”Belmadi told a news conference on Wednesday. “I was looking for matches that could put us in difficulty. Some might say we have to pick up slowly but I don’t see it like that, we have to take advantage of the FIFA dates, there aren’t many. “We could have chosen smaller teams but I made the demand to obtain these prestigious matches against Nigeria and Mexico. “Nigeria everyone knows is the third best team in the FIFA/CAF ranking," he told LGD Fennec. Algeria will hope to do a repeat of what happened at the semi final of 2019 African Cup Of Nations in Egypt where they won 2-1, when the two meet on Friday.
