Invited Eagles Players Will Arrive Before Wednesday Trip To Cameroon - Eguavoen Assures Nigerians By Niyi Busari ... Optimistic Of Good Outing Super Eagles interim coach, Austin Eguavoen has assured that all the invited players would arrive in camp on Monday (today) before their departure to Cameroon on Wednesday, BSNSports.com.ng can report. Just 13 out of 28 invited players were in camp with two days to their planned trip to Cameroon for the 33rd African Nations Cup. There has been concerns among Nigerians about the scanty number of players in the Super Eagles camp with six days to the kick off of the African Nations Cup in Cameroon. Among the 13 players in camp are; Zaidu Sanusi (FC Porto, Portugal), Moses Simon (FC Nantes, France), Francis Uzoho (AC Omonia, Cyprus), Henry Onyekuru (Olympiacos, Greece), Peter Olayinka (Slavia Praha, Czech Republic) and Chidozie Awaziem (Alayanspor, Turkey). Others include; Chidera Ejuke (CSKA Moscow, Russia), Daniel Akpeyi (Kaizer Chiefs, South Africa), Sadiq Umar (UD Almeria, Spain), Olisa Ndah (Orlando Pirates, South Africa), John Noble (Enyimba FC), Taiwo Awoniyi (Union Berlin, Germany) and Maduka Okoye (Sparta Rotterdam, Netherlands) who came in after the training. However, the former Eagles captain, Austin Eguavoen on Sunday evening could not hold his anger when asked whether he was in touch with the players that are yet to report to the camp. “It’s a big wrong to ask if I’m in touch with the players that are yet to arrive camp”, Austin Eguavoen fumed at the journalist who asked the question about the scanty players of the Super Eagles’ that had first ever training on Sunday evening at the main bowl of Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. In the light training session, 12 players out of the 13 who have arrived in camp had their first ever training. Despite that, Eguavoen was however hopeful for good outing in Cameroon. Orlando Pirates’ striker, Olisa Ndah who is making his first appearance in the Super Eagles’ squad, said he would work hard to be in the main team as he targets the AFCON trophy. Moses Simon invited from Nantes said the scanty players currently in camp notwithstanding, the players being expected would blend whenever they arrive camp. “They’re busy in their respective clubs and would easily fit into the squad when they arrive”, said Moses Simon.
