The Nigerian midfielder was replaced before the end of the first half: Joe Aribo was caught by an elbow on the head by Livingston defender Ricki Lamie which led to the bleeding of his head.

Rangers coach Steven Gerrard said after the match that the injury would be further assessed and he hopes it is not a long term injury.

Gerrard told Rangers TV : ''I think he is okay, he's got a nasty gash on his head which was stitched up, he was on the end of a bad one there.

''Joe is a tough lad, I am sure he'll get on with it, I am not sure whether it will affect him in the coming games, we'll have to assess that tomorrow.

''But he, himself, wanted to play on and that's the kid, that's the character, he is a tough lad''.

Nigeria's manager, Gernot Rohr will be expecting the medical report from Rangers to know whether Aribo will feature in the coming international friendly against Brazil. However, the latest report showed that he will be out of action for ten days.
