By Sampson Adedeji In order to encourage and motivate Women football in Africa, South Africa Football Association ( SAFA) president, Danny Jordaan has canvassed for equal pay with women, BSNSports.com.ng report. In Nigeria, South Africa and major Africa countries men national teams earned better than their female counterparts. For instance, In official matches, South African senior national team, Bafana Bafana players earn bonuses as high as R60‚000 ($4,200) for a win‚ R40‚000($2,792 ) for a draw and nothing for a defeat but this cannot be compared to Banyana Banyana players who have been rewarded far less than that in their international matches. Also in Nigeria, Super Eagles earn $10,000 for official matches, while most bonuses of Super Falcons are undisclosed. According to Jordaan, "The gap in incentives between female and male football players must be closed and it should not only be a focus in South African football but in all other football associations," Jordaan said. Both Nigeria and South Africa will represent Africa in the forthcoming FIFA women cup slated for France in June.
