Jordon Ibe Admits He’s Suffering From ‘Depression In Dark Place’

Derby County of England midfielder, Jordon Ibe has come out with a down-to-earth confession that he feels a deep level of ‘depression in a dark place,’ on account of recent struggles he is facing in his career, BSNSports.com.ng reports. A motley of on-pitch and off-field controversies accounted for his slump in from last season at Bournemouth, where his implosion belied the hoopla that heralded his transfer from England two seasons earlier, and the Nigerian-born winger has admitted how tough things are for him. The 25-year-old has made one first-team appearance since joining Derby on a free transfer in September, having seen his contract at Bournemouth expire in July, thereby leading him to concluded that he is suffering with depression in a dark place. Ibe joined Bournemouth from Liverpool in a £16m deal in 2016, but went on to score only three goals in 44 English Premier League appearances during his four-year stay with The Cherries, in which time the former England under-21 international was also banned from driving for 16 months in March last year after crashing into a London coffee shop. He would later reveal that he had begun rehabilitation to improve his mental health and, though Derby boss, Wayne Rooney said he was expecting the winger-cum-midfielder to resume training ‘in the next few days,’ Ibe has now confessed that things are not going well for him. Ibe posted on social media: “I want to apologise to all my fans around the world. I’ve find myself in a dark place, due to suffering with depression. It’s no scheme for the media or to have my name in your mouths, I just find things hard truly. “I appreciate all the love and messages from everyone. Times are hard in general due to this pandemic. I have the full support from my family and Derby County football club. “I will fix myself and this situation, which I’m 100 per cent committed to. Not only for my family, close friend or my daughter but for me.”
