Joshua Restates Commitment To Tyson Fury Fight, Hints At Date In June

Joshua
Nigerian-born world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua has restated his commitment to stepping into the ring sometime this year for a much-expected title unification showdown with fellow-British pugilist, Tyson Fury, BSNSports.com.ng reports. In an apparent reaction to how he has been severally criticised by Fury for allegedly not showing enough interest in the contest, after his ninth-round-stoppage win over Bulgaria’s Kubrat Pulev in December, the 31-year-old ‘AJ’ insisted he has the fight top of his mind. Although he did not fix any particular date for the blockbuster bout, Joshua hinted that it could hold sometime in June and confirmed that expanded talks are already under way with Fury’s camp, while also pointing out that he is not concerned over where the fight would take place. Joshua told Sky Sports News: “I’m ready, I’m keen. The next fight I want is Tyson Fury, for the undisputed championship of the world. I’m having direct conversations now with my management team looking at the best way to put a package together for 2021 and hopefully it will be done. “I think maybe June. It needs a bit of time. I promise you conversations and face-to-face meetings are happening with representatives of my team and Tyson Fury’s team. The possibilities of it being in this country are down to the pandemic and how that shapes. For me I am not too fussed where it is. I just want the fight.”
