By Sampson Adedeji

The duo of Nigeria stars Emmanuel Dennis and David Okereke's Belgium team, Club Brugge are on the verge of being named the champions of Belgian Jupiler league.

The Belgian Pro League is set to become the first major European league to cancel the 2019/2020 season due to the novel coronavirus global outbreak, BSN Reports.

Club Brugge who sat on top of the table with a whooping 15 points gap might be handed the titles, which means that Nigerian duo, Dennis Bonaventure and David Okereke will be crowned as the Champions despite not completing the season.

One game left to play in the regular season, however the Belgian League features a playoff round, also used to determine teams promoted and relegated.

The current season will see none of the sixteen teams relegated, and the 2020/2021 season will now feature 18 teams, with the top two teams from the second division granted automatic promotion.

This decision was made following a board of directors' meeting on Thursday, and awaits official confirmation by representatives of all 24 clubs in the top two tiers of Belgian football by April 15.

Seventeen clubs called for cancellation last week.

Both Dennis and Okereke played a pivotal role in the team both in the league and continental games.
