Jupiler League: Dessers Claims Responsibility For Genk Defeat
By Sampson Adedeji
Nigeria's Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has taken all the blame after RC Genk's 1-2 defeat against Club Brugge, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The former Heracles striker missed a penalty and felt he could also do more with Club Brugge's winning goal.
"Of course we are disappointed, We played a good second half and It is my responsibility that we do not win here.
First I miss that penalty and then I also have butter on the head at that corner where I let Badji head in the 1-2 in my back Dessers blamed himself after the defeat against Club Brugge," he told Eleven Sport .
Dessers started the season well at RC Genk, which took him away from Heracles Almelo for four million euros last summer.
He scored a penalty in the 1-2 victory over Zulte Waregem and after that, the performance of the club dropped.
RC Genk drew twice and lost to Club Brugge on Sunday, while Dessers is still waiting for his second goal.
So he had the chance against Club Brugge from the spot, but the striker failed.
When RC Genk got another penalty, he left it to Theo Bongonda. He did score, but because of Badji's late goal, RC Genk missed a point.
''The big difference between the first and second half is that we started putting pressure differently, which is more within our qualities.
We just played better football and then we get opportunities, Maybe not great opportunities, but it was a lot better, he concluded .
