Jupiler League Play-Off: Dessers Happy Scoring Genk's Winner
By Sampson Adedeji
Super Eagles striker Cyril Dessers is extremely delighted after he netted the winning goal for RKC Genk in their 2-1 win over Anderlecht in the play off, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
It was his compatriots Paul Onuachu who opened the scoring in the 16th minute before Nigeria-eligible Nmencha leveled the scoreline for the host.
Dessers was introduced for Onuachu in the 76th minute and netted the winning goal 10 minutes later.
"This is so good, I often had to put up with very short raids, in which I could barely show myself. Especially the last few weeks I was on the tip of my toes.
But I have always kept hoping for the best for this fantastic group. That is professionalism, for sure. I had to wait so long for this, but I have always remained patient.
"I am especially happy that I could be decisive for this team."
"The joy was very nice. Although it will not be the case with everyone. Many friends of mine are fans of Anderlecht," he added.
Dessers last scored for Genk in December 2020 and he has now scored 5 goals for the club.
