Kaduna defeat Kano 6-4 to win World Polio Day Para-Soccer tourney

The Kaduna state para-soccer team on Friday in Lagos defeat their Kano state counterparts 6-4 to win World Polio Day Para-Soccer Tournament slated at the Rowe Park Sports complex, reports BSNSports.com.ng. Kano State had dominated the competition after they won four titles in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017 in Anambra State. Kaduna sensational player Abdulrahman Yunus proved his spectacular display with a hat-trick in the final match against their north arch rivals Kano State. However member technical committee of the tourney, Coach Mansur Abubakar, disclosed that new debutant Delta State clinch the third place category against northern side Katsina State. Renowned tactician told BSNSport.com.ng the match which ended in stalemate draw (4-4) was decided on penalties which made away for the debutants who had to dig deep to beat experienced goalie Bature Danjuma who was in goal for Katsina State. A Veteran player who also a founding members of the game, Bala Isa was recognized and given an award for promoting the game at greater height. In addition, the governors of Delta, Bayelsa, Katsina, Lagos and Gombe were also given awards for their enormous contributions to the sport in their states. More so, other awards were also dole out to Kola Shidipo and Bunmi Ogunjirin for their immense contributions towards para-soccer development. Speaking at the closing ceremony, the special guest of honour and national chairman of polio plus committee, Dr. Tunji Funsho said the rate of polio cases in the country has reduced drastically. The former District Governor of Rotary International also called on parents to always ensure that they immunize their children accordingly. In his remarks, the president and founder of Para-soccer, Alhaji Misbahu Lawan Didi thanked Rotary International for sponsoring the tournament for the past six years. BSNSports.com.ng report that ten teams took part in the second edition of the National Para-Soccer tournament, and they are from Kano, Zamfara , Katsina, Kaduna , Lagos, Delta , Osun, Nasarawa, Gombe, Bayelsa.
