Kaduna State Govt Permits Kano Pillars To Use Ahmadu Bello Stadium For CAF Confederation Cup Home Matches

Kaduna State Government has given approval for Kano Pillars to use the Ahmadu Bello Stadium as their home venue for the 2020/21 CAF Confederation Cup encounters, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The North West Zonal Coordinator of the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports, Idris Abdullahi passed the message of the state government for the usage of the Ahmadu Bello Stadium (ABS) to Kano Pillars management.

The Kano pillars Chairman, Surajo Shaibu Yahaya and other stakeholders had earlier paid a courtesy visit to the Kaduna State Football Association (FA) Chairman, Hon. Alkasim Sherrif and intimated him on their intension before leading to the North West coordinator's office.

While at the Zonal Coordinator's office, the Kano pillars Chairman told the coordinator that they came on behalf of Kano State government to request for the use of the ABS for their confederation cup home matches.

He averred that Kaduna State being the headquarters of the Northern region and the North West in particular, and with standard stadium, that it s proper to make use of the stadium for such CAF inter-club tournament.

In his words, "We know we have cordial working relationship with Kaduna State and it is with this, on our mind that we are optimistic that our request will not be turned down. Surajo told journalists.

"We will also be willing to contribute in whichever area possible to make the stadium in good condition for the matches".

The Chairman who took a tour of the stadium expressed satisfaction with the facility, stressing however that some areas will certainly require an uplift. 

He thereafter handed over a formal letter of request for the use of the stadium signed by the Kano Pillars football club Secretary Sayyadi Abdullahi to the zonal coordinator.

Responding, the Coordinator said, Kaduna State is a home to Kano Piillars FC and will not deny them any assistance once solicited, adding that the usage of the stadium will be granted being one of the states from the North.

"Your letter of request is acknowledged and I want to assure you that it will be communicated to the Ministry and I am sure that it will be given due considerations positively." Idris Abdullahi said.

" Although the stadium requires some uplift, it is our hope that it will be done before the commencement of the confederation cup competition".

Earlier in his introduction of the team from Kano, the Kano pillars media officer and Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Northwest Vice President Idris Malikawa commended the Zonal coordinator for always yielding to their request.

Also, Kaduna State FA Chairman, gave assurance and optimism that Kano Pillars would not be refused the use of the stadium.

On the entourage of the Kano Pillars Chairman was the Vice Chairman of the Kano State FA Aminu Mohammed Inuwa.
