The two 2019 Aiteo Federation Cup finalists who represented Nigeria on the continent, kano Pillars and Niger Tornadoes walked tight rope after recording not too impressive results in their continental engagements.

Kano Pillars staged a comeback to defeat Asanti Kotoko 3-2 in Kano in the First Round of the 2019/20 CAF Champions League on Saturday.

Kano Pillars drew the first blood in 11th minute through Rahaqqu Yusuf only for Ashante Kotoko to equalise and took a lead in dramatic fashion

Kano Pillars came back into the game with a leveller to make it 2-2 before ageless and experience striker Gambo Mohammed put finishing touch to the remarkable come back scoring the third goal to seal victory for Sai Maisu Gida side.

Meanwhile, it was a different scenario for Niger Tornadoes as they failed to recover from two quick goals scored by their opponent Santoba FC.

Though, the Ikon Allah boys pulled a goal back to end the match 2-1 in favor of the away team.

With the result, Kano Pillars and Niger Tornadoes have mountains to climb to qualify for the next Round of the CAF Champions League as well Confederation Cup.
