Kayode Olarenwaju Becomes Nigeria’s Top Striker In Europa League

Olanrewaju Kayode scored again for Sivasspor in the Europa League as they beat visiting Qarabag 2-0 in Group I to record their first win on Thursday, BSNSports.com.ng reports. It was Kayode’s third goal in three consecutive games in Europe’s second-tier club competition. Goals from Caner Osmanpaşa and Olanrewaju Kayode either side of the break helped Sivasspor pick up their first win in Group I of the Europa League. Sivasspor suffered back-to-back defeats to Villarreal and Maccabi Tel Aviv on Matchdays one and two of this Europa League campaign but started brilliantly tonight with a fine Caner Osmanpasa strike just after eleven minutes. Shakhtar Donetsk loanee Kayode, who was introduced on the hour mark to replace Mustapha Yatabare, then sealed the win for the Turkish sides two minutes before time. Sivasspor were desperate to bounce back following defeats to Villarreal and Maccabi Tel Aviv, and Caner Osmanpasa got them on their way when he opened the scoring eleven minutes in. The win saw Sivasspor occupy third position in the group on three points. However, Kayode was among the goal scorers when Villarreal smashed Sivasspor 5-3 in Spain and got his side’s only goal in the 2-1 home loss to Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv last Thursday. Kayode has not played for the Super Eagles since his cameo appearance in a pre-World Cup friendly against Argentina in November 2017.
