By Editor
The Kenya Championship will have two new partners this season to support football's efforts in this country.
They are Betking (a local sports betting company which gives its name to the championship) and Startimes (the Chinese cable distributor which will take the broadcasting rights for the next 10 years as in Senegal).
The announcement was made by the Kenyan Football Association a few days ago.
The two partners are going to invest a lot of resources. The BetKing company will give $ 2,080,119 for the coming season and each of the 18 clubs in the championship will receive a sum of $ 74,000 throughout the season according to the agreement between the federation and the clubs.
Regarding Startimes, negotiations are in phase. According to the local press, the bonus for each club could reach 37,000 dollars, which would make a total of 111,000 dollars that each will pocket for the start of the season.
In September 2018, the Chinese cable operator offered the rights to broadcast the Senegalese championship for the next 10 years.
The company will spend 11 million dollars or about 6.2 billion CFA Francs due to more than 600 million per year.
This will be the 3rd time that the Chinese giant will broadcast, on these sports channels, an African championship, all regions combined, after acquiring the rights to the Ugandan and Senegalese championship.
