Kevin Akpoguma’s Injury Induced Absence Confirmed By Hoffenheim

TSG Hoffenheim of Germany have confirmed that their Nigerian defender, Kevin Akpoguma will be out of action for a number of days, following an injury he copped at the start of this week, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Although Hoffenheim did not state for how long the 25-year-old utility defender will be out, ‘The Village Club’ confirmed that Akpoguma will spend time on the sidelines after suffering a muscle injury against SC Freiburg. Akpoguma was forced out of last Saturday’s game against The Breisgau Brazilians, when he was on for only 17 minutes of a 3-1 victory for his team in the German Bundesliga encounter and was replaced by Robert Skov after he suffered a muscle and tendon injury in his left thigh. TSG have now come out with an official yet vague statement about the development and fitness status surrounding Akpoguma, who has been with them since 2013, when he arrived from Karlsruher but then spent most of his time on loan with Fortuna Dusseldorf and Hannover 96. His breakthrough, though, came last season, when he featured prominently and helped the side finish sixth in the Bundesliga, while the current campaign has been even better, as the centre-back has already made 19 appearances across all competitions and helped the club up to 13th position in the log, only for the injury blow to slow down his recent surge. Hoffenheim, who will now take on Schalke 04 in their next league game this Sunday, without the Eagles’ rookie defender involved, disclosed; “Kevin Akpoguma sustained a muscle and tendon injury in his left thigh.”
