La Liga: The New Season Is Upon Us With A Good Start For The Big Boys By Omolagba Oluwayemi The La Liga makes a return over the weekend with an exciting result for the league's big guns, BSNSports.com.ng reports. It all began on Friday night as Valencia defeated Getafe by a lone goal to keep the news season underway and on Saturday, it was all about draws as three out of the four games played ended in a draw. Carlo Ancelotti's return to Madrid began on a beautiful note as his team notched four goals past Deportivo Alaves who could only score one in return. Barcelona on Sunday had to face the reality of not playing without Lionel Messi when they hosted Real Sociedad and it was a good start to a new life for them as they put four into the net although conceded two. League defending champions, Atlético Madrid began their title defense with a 2-1 win away at Celta Vigo. Sevilla who rounded up the weekend fixtures rumpled Rayo Vallecano 3-0. Indeed there is definitely much to look forward to in the league this season and with the departure of Lionel Messi, one can hardly predict where the magics will spring forth but on a certainty, its really going to be one of the best La Liga season in years especially with no clear favorites going into the season. The match day one fixtures continues on Monday as Europa League Champions, Villarreal hosts Granada while Athletic Bilbao pays Elche a visit.
