The organiser, Olumide Oyedeji Youth Foundation has set the stage for the opening ceremony and match as the court is decorated and ready for the seven-day event. The week-long event is scheduled to hold at the Indoor Sports Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium.
According to the former D'Tigers captain, Olumide Oyedeji, all the players will be fully kitted with conducive accomodation for all the participants.
Speaking ahead of the competition, the President, Nigeria Olympians Association (NOA) said the competition was organised in quest to continue developing basketball at the grassroots. He added that such platform will provide talented players who become great players and represent Nigeria in future.
"It is important at this time to restore hopes in all the upcoming talents who wish to become star basketball players. No doubt, Nigeria has talents but without platform to showcase their God-given talents, their dreams may not be realised. We are doing this so that players who wish to become great can use this platform to realise their dreams and I believe Nigeria will be better for it."
Recall that Olumide Oyedeji Youth Foundation held the first edition of the Rising Stars U17 Boys Basketball Championship in Akure Ondo State in April, 2021 where Lagos State defeated Oyo State in final to lift the trophy.
