Lagos Championship; Akanbi, Bello Emerge Champions By Sampson Adedeji It was a day to remember for the duo of Rilwan Akanbi and Fatimah Bello as both of them emerged champions in men's and women's singles at the just concluded Lagos Table Tennis championship, BSNSports.com.ng reports. It was competition galore at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos with over 300 table tennins players slugging it out. Akanbi overcame tough opposition from Amadi Omeh and Azeez Solanke before finally ending the unbeaten run of Taiwo Mati in the final to emerge as the new national champion. Apart from lifting the trophy he was also awarded N250,000 prize money accrued to the men's singles game. Bello who has won the last two editions in the Women category continued her dominance as the best female player in the country with a convincing 4-1 (15-13, 11-9, 8-11, 11-5, 11-1) win over Bose Odusanya in the women’s singles final. The tournament was organized by NTTF in collaboration with the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC) .
