2018 WGB/LAGOS FA CUP: MFM, Smart City lock horns in final By Akeem Busari The final match of the 2018 WGB/ Lagos FA cup comes up tomorrow at the soccer temple, Agege stadium. Defending champions MFM have their works cut out as it slugs it out with giant- killing debutants Smart City in what has been dubbed as epic encounter. To qualify for the final, MFM successfully rode through the tempest storm as it narrowly pipped hard- fighting 36 Lion fc 2-1 in the first of the semi- final games played at the Teslim Balogun stadium. In the second semi final match, Smart City continued its Cinderella runs as it the non league side claimed the scalps of former champions and NLO side, First Bank 2-1 to set up a most exciting cup final against NPFL side MFM. This year's edition that saw 87 male and 4 female teams vying for honours have thrown up several high points. What with the avalanche of goals, the mouth watering and exciting games, record setting moments, discovery of potential world class stars, a top notch organisation and impressive standard of officiating. Speaking on the finals, the chairman, Technical committee of Lagos FA, Dotun Coker expressed his delight with the standard of play,organisation, officiating and discipline of all teams that participated in the championship.
