Leganes plotting to stop Omeuro from Eagles AFCON games

Leganes
Leganés are plotting to stop defender Kenneth Omeruo from honouring Nigeria’s invitation for the two African Cup of Nations qualifying games against Benin Republic and Lesotho on March 27 and 30 respectively, BSNSports.com.ng reports. The Spanish second division side are optimistic and believe that the defender will not have to go to these duels following the example of Umar Sadiq, the Almería striker who Almeria have stopped from what would have been his senior debut for Nigeria. Leganes are already feeling cheated that Sadiq will now be available to face them on March 27,same day Nigeria will be playing against Benin Republic in Port Novo. Interestingly, Omeruo scored his only goal of the season so far against Almeria when both teams met last month at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque. The club’s legal division have started exploring the possibilities of stopping the defender who is doubtful for Saturday’s game at the Estadio Municipal de Butarque against Fuenlabrada from travelling to Nigeria. Leganes are hopeful Omeruo will be able to play against Almeria (March 27) and Real Mallorca on April 1 at the Iberostar Estadio. The Nigerian has missed Leganes last two games due to injury and returned to training on Wednesday. He has started 16 of the 21 games he has played so far this term and will be banked on by Leganes who are looking to make an immediate return to the LaLiga. Leganes are fourth on the table with 53 points, two points below third placed Espanyol with Real Mallorca (60 points) and Almeria (56 points) first and second on the log respectively.
