Let's Join Hands To Fight Coronavirus - Dalung Urges Nigerians

By Editor

As the novel Coronavirus continues to infect people around the world, the former Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung has warned Nigerians against making jokes with the virus.

Speaking to Daylight Reporters, Dalung said it is high time to put all hands on deck irrespective of tribe, religion and socio-economic status to contain the spread of the virus in the country.

“Now that we found ourselves in this very difficult situation with the outbreak of Coronavirus in Nigeria, and it continues to spread day in day out like wildfires. This disease is shameless, it doesn’t separate a Christian from a Muslim, it knows no Hausa, Fulani, Yoruba or Igbo, it knows no wealthy or poor. It can catch and kill anybody.”

“Therefore we, the wealthy and privileged Nigerians should know that this disease is shameless and will not leave us unharmed. We should therefore bring out the monies we gathered and saved, and join hands in fighting this deadly disease. But if we take it as an item of joke as we are used to, this disease will finish us all.”

“I therefore call on the wealthy Nigerians to bring out money and purchase testing kits, treatment materials and drugs for the benefit of ourselves and poor Nigerians.”

” I also call on Governors to restrain from cutting down workers salaries amidst this pandemic, as people need money to sustain their lives and that of families more than ever before. They should al6know that there are millions of people who must go out every day before they could get what to eat with their families and if food is not provided for them, hunger will kill them more than Coronavirus do.” He pleaded.

Dalung also called on religious leaders to comply with health, safety and social measures taken by governments against the spread of the virus, so as not to endanger the lives of their followers.
