Lille Offer Private Jet As Osimhen Dad Dies At 80

Lille striker, Victor Osimhen has been offered a private jet by the club to come to Nigeria following his father's death on Sunday.

The Super Eagles forward lost his father, Osimhen Patrick at 80.

Lille forward, 21, took to his twitter handle to announce his father's death on Sunday, "RIP Daddy. No words to explain it,' he tweeted.

It was reported that Osimhen's father died after a brief illness at the age of 80 in Lagos on Saturday night. In the meantime, the Nigerian Football Federation has expressed grief and a groundswell of sorrow among the Nigerian Football family over the passing of the Osimhen family's patriarch.

NFF President Mr. Amaju Pinnick said, "I talked to Victor Osimhen and expressed sorrow for the NFF and the whole Nigerian Football family. He was given a private aircraft by his friend, Lille OSC of France, to come to Nigeria to be with his father, and possibly for the burial rites. We have applied for a landing permit but this is yet to be obtained.

We are still on it however and optimistic for the young lad's sake. "Just one parent's loss is typically a heartbreak moment for everyone. At this moment, we condole with Victor (Osimhen) and pray that God will give eternal rest to his late father, while also giving the family the strength to bear the great loss."

Osimhen sealed a move to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg where he played 14 top-flight games in two seasons, after helping Nigeria lift the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile. He struggled to settle down in the German city and thus secured a move to Belgium, where he played the whole 2018/19 season and scored 12 goals in 25 league matches. He was subsequently signed by Lille as the replacement for Nicolas Pepe who had moved off-season to Arsenal.
