The League Management Company, LMC have charged Katsina United for breaching the NPFL Framework and Rules in their Matchday 18 game vs Kwara Utd.
Katsina Utd are charged after members of their contingent prevented the visiting team Kwara Utd from leaving the pitch after their match.
Also, a member of Katsina Utd’s contingent threw a chair at the centre referee while he made his way to the changing room & injured him in the process.
Katsina Utd have been fined N1 million for failing to provide adequate protection for the match official(s).
The erring club will also pay a fine of N250,000 as compensation to the injured referee.
Another fine of N1 million has been imposed on Katsina Utd for failing to ensure adequate & effective security for the visiting team Kwara Utd.
A fine of N500,000 has also been imposed on the Katsina club for misconduct capable of bringing the game to disrepute.
Katsina Utd’s subsequent home matches are to be played behind closed doors, admitting only participating teams, their officials, match officials & league officials.
The closed door sanction on Katsina Utd’s home games will continue until a satisfactory security plan is put in place at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
In addition, the perpetrator of the incident leading to the injury of the referee has been arrested & is being charged to court. Katsina Utd are expected to provide update on the matter.
Katsina Utd reserve the right to appeal these sanctions within 48 hours from the date of notice.
