Lobi Seal Place In Super-6 After Goalless Draw At Relegated Remo Stars By Admin Lobi Stars booked their place in the Super-6 playoffs after a professional, if boring performance against already relegated Remo Stars in a 0-0 draw on Sunday. It was a match that encapsulated Remo Stars’s struggles in front of goal as seen all through the season. The home side did not even muster a shot at goal for the first 30 minutes of the game and did not get one on target until the second half. Lobi Stars created much of the openings, but they mainly resulted in half chances. The closest they got were through well taken free kicks by Solomon Kwambe; one saved by goalkeeper Abuchi Okeke and the other just a few inches wide of the mark. Those free kicks sandwiched a shot from distance by his teammate, Ebube Duru which was straight at Okeke. Victor Mbaoma was, as usual, Remo Stars’s main conduit for goals. He was agonisingly close in the 32nd minute with a trademark header that had the keeper rooted, only for it to go wide. He could also have won it, so improbably late on, when he was denied a shooting chance at point blank range by a last ditch tackle. Lobi Stars, comfortable in the knowledge that a draw would do them a world of good in the their Super-6 aspirations, subsequently closed out the match with more men behind the ball. The point was indeed enough for them to finish second in Group A behind Rangers International. It was fitting reward for the memory of their former head coach, Solomon Ogbeide, who did most of the work that made them such a competitive outfit. His death last week shook the football family and a one-minute silence was observed in his honour by everyone in the stadium before kickoff.
