  Lobi Stars Ready For League Challenge – Idoko By Taofeek LAWAL Vice chairman of Lobi Stars of Makurdi of Makurdi, Mike Idoko, has stated that the Pride of Benue is ready to challenge for honours as the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) set to resume later this month after eight months break, BSNsports.com.ng reports. It will be recalled that sporting activities was put on hold in Nigeria and globally as a result of the outbreak of Covid-19 global pandemic in March this year. Idoko however expressed optimism that despite the lockdown, Lobi Stars are ready to put things right and storm the league with all intent and purpose and make positive mark when the season finally commences. He said that the former Nigerian league champions do not owe any of its players as their salaries are paid promptly. “We pay our players’ salaries as at when due. Even during the lockdown and if you have any of our players’ numbers, you will find out that we paid to the last kobo. Everyone was paid to the last kobo. Lobi Stars does not owe its players.” He added that the club is set for the league to commence with preparations geared towards Covid-19 and other precautionary measures while informing that the club is participating in the ongoing Governor Nyesom Wike Tournament in Port Harcourt to put the players in proper shape and blend the new players with the old ones in the club. He said, “I want to state clearly here that we started the preparations for the coming season by following the protocol of Covid-19. We have tested all the players and the officials too and luckily we all turned out negative. We went into close camp and from the close camp, our team left Gboko for Governor Wike’s tournament. We have some new players and of course you are aware that we have a new coach. We are using the Wike Tournament to prepare for the league proper.”
