Man City cruise past Swansea into the FA Cup quarter finals

Manchester City joined Man United and Bournemouth in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup following an easy 3-1 win over Swansea on Wednesday night.  Pep Guardiola's side were too strong against the Championship side, scoring once in the opening half before two more goals in the second period. Kyle Walker put the Cityzens 1-0 up after 30 minutes, before two more goals from Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus, with Morgan Whittaker grabbing a consolation for the Swans. Guardiola made seven changes to the side that won 4-1 at Anfield, with only Bernardo, Raheem Sterling, Ilkay Gundogan, and Rodrigo retained. City got off to a lively start with Jesus testing the goalie after just two minutes, unleashing a thunderous strike from distance, which went straight at Woodman, who made a strong save. The visitors enjoyed much of the possession and kept knocking, coming close again on the quarter mark with Laporte headed a Gudongan corner just inches wide. Ferran Torres twice came close, but Woodman stood firm in goal making brilliant saves. There was nothing though he could do just on the half-hour mark as Walker's cross found the back of the net, missing a sliding Torres to give Pep's men the lead. The hosts created two chances in the remaining quarter of the opening half, but could not find a goal as the match went into the break City leading 1-0. The second half belonged to Man City, who came back stronger and doubled their lead after just two minutes. The visitors cut open Swansea's back-line, with Sterling applying the finishing touch, leaving the defence arguing among themselves as to who was at fault. It was game over in the 50th minute as the visitors scored a third after they caught Swansea playing from the back, with Gudogan and Bernando playing neat passes before delivering it to Jesus, who found the back of the net. Swansea grew into the game and got their consolation late on, but it could do little as the Cityzens booked their place in the last eight.
