Spaces were limited for creative players like Kevin De Bruyne, Bruno Fernandes, and Paul Pogba to affect the game, and the strikers were arguably swallowed in the action. The Cityzens had a good chance to take the lead through Raheem Sterling, but a wall, in the form of Harry Maguire blocked his shot after the winger sat down Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right. Scott McTominay had the best chance for the home side from a delicious corner from the left by Luke Shaw, but he fluffed his shot on goal. The second half saw no changes in the starting XIs, until the hour mark of the game. The two defenses were up to the task when it came to defending chances and nothing De Bruyne or even Paul Pogba conjured up seemed to work. The half had less action as it seemed the two sides had studied each other and every try was met with a stop. This is surely one forgettable derby.
