Manchester United in cruise control as Solskjaer makes history

By Lord Verbinsky

The honeymoon period at Old Trafford and indeed Manchester United since the announcement of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the interim manager, will extend into the New Year as the most decorated club in England and the World, finished 2018 in style by a 4-1 bullying of Bournemouth.

Former reject and somewhat controversial World Cup star, Paul Pogba was on song again as he netted a brace and set up Lukaku for the 4th, with Rashford scoring in between after assisting Pogba's opener in the 5th minute with a magical solo run.

This means that United are yet to score less than 4 goals so far under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer even though critics will argue that the oppositions faced so far are not of the same calibre as United, however, they will be reminded that United under Jose lost and labored to draw such opponents during his calamitous 3rd season.

With Pogba netting 4 goals in his last 2 matches alone and Lukaku finally breaking his goal drought which surpassed 12hours of football, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer becomes only the 3rd manager in United history to win his first 3 games after Sir Matt Busby and ironically, Jose Mourinho!

So far, it is clear that the negativity placed on players like Pogba and Lukaku by Mourinho are unfounded, while the faith placed in giving players freedom to express themselves and attack is finally paying off for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who has admitted that he wants the job on a permanent basis.

Speaking to MUTV post match, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said:

"It was a no brainer when I was approached for this role. It has always been my childhood dream and I am delighted to be here. We have a fantastic crop of players and an abundance of attacking talents. It is exciting to have so many options to choose from. I am enjoying myself. "

I do hope to get considered for the permanent role at the end of this season as I am enjoying myself here and hope to be able to continue in the same vein for a long time".

It is clear United fans are the happiest this yuletide and Santa got them the perfect gift but one has to wonder: How will Mourinho sleep at night after watching this dramatic and unbelievable turn around from the same players he constantly berated, wrote off and wanted to offload?
