Manchester United players pay homage to De Gea
By Lord Verbinski
De Gea’s performance did not go unnoticed among his team-mates, with a number of players and the manager all paying tribute to him.
Marcus Rashford: “Today it wasn’t about the goals, it was about the keeper today and the amount of saves he has made is tremendous. We know we have that at the back with David. What a performance from David today. When you have that behind you it gives you confidence.”
Ander Herrera: “We have the number one in the goal and you therefore play with more calmness and confidence. I think until minute 60 we could have been winning 2-0, we didn’t because we missed a couple of good chances but after that it was all about David. He is the number one. I have never seen something like this. He has been terrific. The only thing we can do is enjoy David.”
Jesse Lingard: “David was on fire. It was a normal day for him really! He stayed concentrated throughout the game and those saves were equal to a goal for us.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: “David was fantastic. Obviously when you make 11 saves that is a top, top performance but then again I thought that one or two were really good saves and then the rest of them you would expect David to save them. He should have held a couple of them! But he is the best goalkeeper in the world, I have said it many times. It is about positioning, concentration to be in the right position. Maybe one or two of them were uncatchable, but the saves he makes are because he is so in tune with the game. He is following the game, moving all the time. They don't always look fantastic, because he is in the right position.”
Manchester United fans and almost every football lover around the world, are unanimous that David's performance yesterday proved without a doubt that he is the best goalie in the world and deserves the Balon D'or (which might be far fetched by indicative of how impressed the world is with the Spaniard)
