A foremost British sportscaster and football commentator John Dyke has likened the recurring debate on who's the greatest of the world's two best footballers - Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to a comparison of apples with oranges.

Featuring on the BCOS TV sports programme 'Saturday Breakfast Sports Show' anchored by Boluwaji Ogunmola, Dyke said " asking who's better between Messi and Ronaldo is comparing apples with oranges, because they are different".

The British football commentator is of the opinion that the debate on who is greater between Messi and Ronaldo is often based on individual assessments and sentiments.

"Messi is a master dribbler like Maradona and can score goals incredibly. Ronaldo on the other hand, is a physically immense player with sheer appetite for scoring goals", the renowned sports journalist said.

"These two footballers are among the best we've ever seen. I hate comparing the two of them. They are so different that I can't compare them. Let's just celebrate them," he concluded.

Speaking further on the sports programme produced by Adewale Tijani, Dyke, who currently works in Singapore for Fox Sports Asia, posited that the presently ravaging Covid 19 pandemic might linger on for the next two years.

The veteran sportscaster then advised footballers, fans and other stakeholders to endure the new changes brought to the round leather game by the pandemic.
