Middendorp to stick with Akpeyi

Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has confirmed that he won’t be dropping Daniel Akpeyi after his blunder against Polokwane City last weekend, BSNSports reports.
The Nigerian keeper mishandled Walter Musona’s long-range shot that gave City’s equaliser, leading to a 1-1 result.
Asked if German coach will drop Akpeyi as he did Virgil Vries after a couple of goal- conceding blunders this season.
“No, it’s not about [the one mistake]. We’ll observe it during the week, and we have the next game on the weekend [against Highlands Park], and then we will see,” Middendorp stated.
“Actually, it’s not fooling around – Daniel is the goalkeeper in the league and Bruce [Bvuma] is playing the Nedbank Cup, that’s where we are standing at the moment.
“You’ll understand, please, that at the time directly after a game I can confirm it,” Middendorp concluded.
Chiefs host Highlands Park at Moses Mabhida on Saturday.
