Captain Mikel Obi has expressed his delight at joining with his Super Eagles teammates as they commence preparations ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Mikel Obi arrived at the Eagles’ Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort in Uyo on Thursday, bringing the number of players in camp to 29.
Speaking after arriving, Mikel said he is happy playing alongside the current Super Eagles squad and also featuring at the World Cup.
“I am happy to be here. It is a huge privilege to play with this team and represent Nigeria at the World Cup,” Mikel was quoted on the Super Eagles verified Twitter handle with a picture of a smiling Mikel at the hotel.
The Eagles will take on Democratic Republic of Congo in a friendly game in Port Harcourt on Monday before jetting out to London where they face England on June 2.
Meanwhile Chelsea FC wing-back, Victor Moses is ruled out of the DR Congo tie on Monday as he is expected to stay back and join the team in London in their international friendly game at the Wembley stadium, London.
