Mikel Obi Announces Stoke City Arrival With Debut Goal

Nigerian midfielder, John Mikel Obi scored his first goal for Stoke City in his debut pre-season game on Tuesday in preparation for the 2020-2021 English Championship season.
Stoke City continued their pre-season preparations with a 5-1 victory against Shrewsbury Town at Clayton Wood with Mikel scoring in his first game for his new club.
After going ahead and being pegged back by Shrewsbury Town’s equaliser, Mikel Obi restored Stoke City lead which set them up for a comfortable 5-1 win in a game played behind closed doors.
The Rio 2016 Olympics bronze medalist who hasn’t played competitive football since mid-March after leaving the Turkish side, Trabzonspor signed a one year contract with Stoke City after featuring for Plateau United, Lyn Oslo, Chelsea, Tianjin Teda, and Middlesbrough. He is one of the most decorated Nigerian footballers with African Cup of Nations, AFCON title, English Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Champions League, and Europa League titles.
