Minister of Sports Inaugurates Board of 29 Sports Federations

Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare on Friday inaugurated 29 Board of Sports Federations to pilot the affairs of their various federation in the next four years.
The event which kicked off at 11: 00 am saw all the board members of the 29 federations present at the VIP Lounge Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
The 29 Sports includes; table tennis, taekwondo, boxing, judo, tennis, chess, karate, scrabble, swimming, Cycling to mention but few.
The 2021 National Sports Federations Elections Guidelines stipulates that, “all electoral Boards of the National Sports Federation are to be inaugurated by the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, at a date convenient for him but not later than four weeks from the conclusion of election.”
Recall that, the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development recently released 2021 National Sports Federations Elections results, which was conducted on September 30, 2021 at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package B of the MKO Abiola National Stadium Abuja, after elections of other institutions and the six-geopolitical zones were conducted.
Meanwhile, two federations, Basketball and Badminton have not conducted their elections. The Badminton Federation of Nigeria elections are yet to be conducted following the internal wrangling that has resulted in litigation while stakeholders in the Nigeria Basketball Federation are yet to settle on its Constitution.
However, Saturday is scheduled for NBBF Extra-Ordinary Congress in Abuja. The event where dates of elections and issues surrounding the Constitution will be at the top of the agenda.
