Minister of Sports Snubs NFF Chieftains
By Adeola Ajose
It was a dramatic moment at the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja, when minister of youth and sports development, Mr Sunday Dare snubbed the president of Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick and the second vice president of the federation Shehu Dikko following their late arrival to the minister's office 20 minutes late, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
Sunday Dare had on Monday waited till 4:20 pm for a meeting that suppose to commence at 4:00 pm. However, the two NFF bigwigs arrived when his (Sunday Dare) driver and the entourage have started their vehicles but moving slowly.
Amaju Pinnick quickly alighted from his car and approached minister's car to explain what kept them behind the scheduled time.
A sports journalist who is closer to the scene alleged that the minister told them that he can not alight from his vehicle because he has many other meetings to attend to in his office at the Federal secretariat.
Looking unhappy, after the minster and his entourage had left the scene, an eyewitness alleged that Pinnick queried the minister's attitude and asked 'we are just 10 minutes late, how can the minister leave us like that'?
The agenda of the meeting an unnamed source told www.bsnsports.com.ng is about discussion on the welfare of the national U23 team who is preparing to leave Nigeria for Egypt for 2019 U23 African Nations Cup. The meeting will also give both parties the opportunity to discuss on how the league will commence next Sunday, November 3rd.
The Nigeria U23 team were drawn in the same group with Cote d'Ivoire, South Africa and Zambia. Eight countries will slug it out for the three slots for African representatives at the 2020 Men's Football competition.
