By Sampson Adedeji

The board member of Nigeria Athletics Federation ( AFN) Evangelist Solomon Ogba has confirmed his resignation from the board.

Ogba confirmed his resignation via a live radio interview monitored on Monday.

"In all circumstances that is the only option left because the level of interference is too much, people should respect the constitution of constituted authority.

"They have divided the board and has caused faction and I cannot be on the board and sit down particularly when they are the one that appointed me into the board coming from philanthropist .

"I cannot be on the board when I know that they have violates the rules of the international federations.

"When you talk about the interference, i am referring to the ministry , for instance where the ministry have meetings with some members of the board to impeach the president early this year and want me to be a rubber stamp to that.

"The Congress called by our president should be held once and they want to scuttle the Congress because they have called a board meeting in Akwa a day before the Congress and also trying to call another meeting for Abuja tomorrow but I won't be part to that.

"I have other roles to play, i am one of the biggest stakeholder in athletics in Delta state, so I still have a big role to play

"And I think it's better for me to put my efforts into Delta and help them out.

Ogba also spoke on the Nigeria chance in athletics at the 2020 Olympics.

"Most of the athletes that will do us proud are my athletes and i am in touch with them and we also have our own program, some of them will get government grants to train so that will not affect and they will deliver," he concluded.

Ogba is presently the chairman of Delta state Athletics .
