Ministry of Sports, NFF Honour Segun Ogunjinmi

The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the Nigeria Football Federation on Thursday honoured late Segun Ogunjinmi in Abuja.
The Spots Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Abuja chapter had according to the burial arrangements for late veteran journalist organised a novelty match in honour of the deceased, a day after Service of Songs was held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council office.
Director of Grassroots Sports, Dr. Ademola Are, Secretary General of the NFF, Dr Sanusi Mohammed, his Deputy, Emmanuel Ikpeme, are some of the notable names that graced Area 3 Sports Complex - venue of the novelty match.
Speaking, NFF Secretary General remembered Segun as a journalist who always balance and found out more about the news he wanted to put out to the public to avoid misleading the readers. He said the football fraternity will miss a dedicated journalist like Segun.
"We are going to miss him, I mean the whole football family will miss Segun Ogunjinmi. He always call me to confirm the authenticity of news emanating from us and always double check his stories to avoid misleading the public."
In the novelty match, FCT SWAN lost 0-2 to Naija Ratels (a women's league team based in Abuja) before staging a 2-2 draw with FCT Coaches Association.
Meanwhile, the Wake Keep takes place at his residence on Friday 5 while the late journalist will be buried on Saturday 6th March 2021 at Gudu Cemetery.
