Ministry of Sports Sets To Work With NCC For Youth Development
Youth and Sports Ministry will explore a strong and viable working partnership with the Nigeria Communications Commission to alleviate a quantum of at least 7 to 10 million Nigerian Youths out of unemployment.
The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare dropped this hint at a Send forth Ceremony organised by his former employer, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to honour him and Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Ararume, both past Executive Commissioners; which held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
In the course of explaining the exact nature of the proposed working relationship with the NCC, Mr Dare succinctly stated that the Ministry would work with the NCC to close the gap of Youth unemployment in the country; through knowledge based application of digital skills in Apps, programming etc.
Other ways of communication technology to impart and enhance capacity building of our Youths for self employment and start ups entrepreneurship would be explored and considered, Mr Dare stated.
The Minister seized the opportunity to thank the President who found him worthy of Ministerial appointment, and particularly for assigning him to Youth and Sports Development Ministry.
It is instructive to note that the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Prof Umar Garba Dambatta, earlier in his speech, eulogized the intellectual contributions and team work qualities of Mr Dare, thereby enriching the Board with ideas that positively impacted the NCC and the telecommunications sector generally.
Besides the citation and commendation of departing members of the board of NCC laced with sonorous rendition of classical music presentations at intervals, another colourful highlight of the Send forth Ceremony was the Award of Recognition Plaque given to the Youth and Sports Minister, Mr Dare by the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Prof. Umar Garba Dambatta.
The occasion was witnessed and graced by the Management staff of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, led by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Olusade Adesola.
