WAFU Cup: Morocco pulls out

Few days to the kick off of the 2019 West Africa Cup of Nations ( WAFU) football tournament, invited team, Atlas Lions of Morocco has pulled out of the competition, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

BSN reports that the North African country was invited as a guest participant by the organiser of the event to replace Sierra Leone.

The WAFU competition will kick off next week in Senegal.

The country's football governing body ( FRMF) had initial pronounced that their U23 national team will be sent to represent the nation which also serve as preparations for the final leg of their U23 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The local clubs in the country whose players were invited to the national team ahead of the competition protested that the release of their players will weaken the team as the new season reach an advance stage.

The FA on Tuesday evening announced the pulling out from the competition scheduled to take place in Thies Senegal.
