Most woodwork hits in PL this season

Premier League newbies Brentford is the team that has hit the woodwork most times this season.

The Bees have had some sterling performance in their debut season in the English top-flight and were unlucky not to get something in their game against Chelsea on Sunday after hitting the woodwork thrice in the game.

According to stats from the Premier League, the Thomas Frank side has hit the woodwork eight times this season with Bryan Mbeumo contributing to six of this tally; the being the highest in the league.

Should the efforts have had hit the target, Brentford could have had 18 goals after 8 games which could have made them the second top scorers in the league and probably be in a better position in the English top flight.

Robin van Persie is the current Premier League record holder of the stat after hitting the frame of the goal ten times in the 2011/12 season.
