Uzoho Shines In Segunda Debut With Elche; Musa, Onyekuru, Abdullahi Missing In Action
Nigeria’s first choice goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho kept a clean sheet on his Spanish Segunda debut for Elche on Friday in their 2-0 home win over Malaga.
A goal in each half from Neider Lozano in the 36th minute and another from Borja Martinez sealed Elche’s second win of the season after ten games.
Uzoho who is currently on a season loan deal from Deportivo La Coruna made four outstanding saves in the encounter as he helped his side moved up to 14th in the Spanish Segunda table with 11 points from ten games.
The game was his second appearance for the club since he joined.
Elche host Real Zaragoza at home in their game.
In Belgium, Emmanuel Dennis, replaced Arnaut Danjuma at half time in Club Brugge’s 1-1 draw with Waasland-Beveren. Denis has played eight games and has scored twice.
In the Russian Premier League, Brian Idowu was an unused substitute for Locomotiv Moscow who defeated FC Rostov 2-1 at the RZD Arena in Moscow.
Idowu who did not feature for the Super Eagles in their double header against Libya in the Africa Cup Nations qualifiers has made two league appearances this term.
At the Telecom stadium in Turkey, Nigerian duo of Henry Onyekuru and Abdullahi Shehu were not listed for action for their respective teams Galatasaray and Bursaspor who played out a 1-1 draw.
While Onyekuru has played eight league games and has scored twice, Shehu on his part has one game to his credit.
In the Saudi Arabia topflight division, Ahmed Musa did not turn out for Al Nassr who defeated Al Baten 2-0. Musa has scored five goals since he joined the club in the summer.
